Where to go to the sea
The Playa di Catania is the city’s main beach, stretching for about 18 kilometers along the Ionian Sea. It is a popular spot for both locals and tourists seeking sun, sea, and relaxation just a short distance from the city center.
Along the Playa, you’ll find around 15 private beach clubs (lidi a pagamento) offering amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, bars, and restaurants. These paid beaches provide comfort and services ideal for families and visitors looking for convenience.
In addition to the paid beaches, there are several free public beach areas (lidi liberi) where you can enjoy the sea without any cost. These spots are perfect if you prefer a more natural, casual beach experience.
The sandy beach is mostly golden, with a gentle slope into the clear waters, making it suitable for swimming and water sports.
