CIVITA DISTRICT

174,00

THE AUTHOR SAYS: “Civita (from the Latin civitas) is the name of an old district of Catania. August 17, 1943 is the date on which Operation Husky or the allied landing in Sicily is considered completed. The neighborhood was the object of military targets and was hit by intense bombing, which created the “great urban void”. The square takes its name from this date. The square, for years left to decay and neglect, today returns to new life thanks to the joint work of citizens, residents, artists, volunteers and entrepreneurs. The attempts to give new dignity to the square, a symbol of destruction but also of rebirth, were many. Among them, street art is the most successful.”
